Roselle man charged with child pornography
Bond was set at $10,000 for a suburban man charged with child pornography. Wojciech Florczykowski, 39, was arrested July 7, following an investigation initiated three years ago after he was fired from his Wheeling company for poor job performance. That investigation led to the discovery of child pornography on his work computer, authorities said.

Torah Academy on the move in Buffalo Grove
The Buffalo Grove village board has cleared the way for the Torah Academy to operate in what school leaders hope is a permanent home at 720 Armstrong Drive. Village trustees approved a special-use permit allowing the Hebrew elementary school to move into the property that is in an area zoned for industrial uses.

Save Buffalo Grove forms PAC
Save Buffalo Grove, a citizen group that formed to oppose a proposal to build a 65-acre "downtown" project in the village, has formed the Save Buffalo Grove Political Action Committee, allowing the group to raise funds and engage in political activities. "We can do more to educate the entire community regarding the implications of the downtown development and how sad it will be to lose this land to another commercial development. I think that being a PAC will give us more clout," said Marilyn Weisberg, the group's communications director.

Fitting for the "glamour queen" of WWII-era bombers, the B-17 Liberator pulled up to a crowd of camera-toting onlookers at a Wheeling airport Friday. Then, came the B-24 Liberator, where veterans like Joseph Houska lingered for the rare visit. "I'm speechless," the 92-year-old said.

Buffalo Grove moves Night Out back to Willow Stream Park
Buffalo Grove is moving its annual National Night Out back to Willow Stream Park this year, scrapping earlier plans to hold the Aug. 5 event at Mike Rylko Community Park. The Night Out will feature free food, live music, a business expo, games and attractions for children, and interactive displays by the Buffalo Grove Police and Fire departments.

Des Plaines hopes to save money if new water deal approved
Des Plaines is close to finalizing a deal for a new water source that officials say would save the city $7,000 a day by weaning itself off Chicago's water. Mayor Matt Bogusz and City Manager Mike Bartholomew believe they may have found residents and businesses a cheaper, alternative water source in the Northwest Water Commission, which provides water to Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Palatine and Wheeling.

Investors ‘bullish' on acquiring properties in Arlington Heights, elsewhere
The Metrolofts in downtown Arlington Heights, which was the center of a bankruptcy of its developer, was purchased for about $3.8 million by an attorney and a real estate developer who have been buying distressed properties around the suburbs. One was raised in Arlington Heights and the other in Mount Prospect.
