Buffalo Grove hopes to hold its first administrative adjudication hearings for parking, nonmoving traffic and ordinance violations, as well as building and zoning violations, in January, Police Chief Steven Casstevens said this week. But a lot of groundwork still needs to be performed before the rollout. The process would divert cases involving minor offenses from the court system, and put them into the hands of a hearing officer at village hall.

The trial date for two of three men accused of invading a Wauconda apartment and shooting a 26-year-old man was delayed in Lake County court Monday. Attorneys for Jose Alfredo Dominguez-Eleperez, 27, of Wheeling, and John Nava, 19, of Niles, requested more time, claiming more investigation needed to be done on the case. Prosecutors said the trial for the third man, Noe J. Brito-Ramirez, 22, of Crystal Lake, will most likely be delayed Tuesday.
